Throw the ball down the field!
Make football great again! The Houston Texans have invested 75 million dollars in a quarterback who won't throw the ball past the first down marker. What a disgrace. But it seems that this is the safe zone for multiple quarterbacks in the league ex. Sam Bradford, Brock Osweiler, Alex Smith and the list goes on and on.
Last night is a perfect example of an exciting team that takes chances and a team that is ultra conservative and plays the game inch by inch. Look, we all know football is a game of inches (thanks Al Pachino) but when you have a prolific wide receiver on your team you have to grab chunks of yards whenever you get a chance to. That was the difference between the two quarterbacks last night in Mexico City. It's not like Osweiler doesn't have a cannon for an arm either because we have seen him sling it before. Unlike David Carr though, Brock Osweiler is scared, period. Even if the play calling is a whole bunch of these little dip and dunk passes I still put it on Osweiler to challenge his coach and challenge himself to go make big plays.
Who's the biggest loser here? It's Deandre Hopkins. Easily a top 5 receiver in the NFL and his numbers are somewhat pedestrian. This is the same man who lit up the NFL last year with 5, that's right 5 different quarterbacks.
There is no way the Texans can go deep into the playoffs like this. And if that's the case, there is no way they keep their star wide receiver this off season.
